Microsoft is said to be ready to launch Windows 9 at the end of this month or the beginning of next month, with a beta / preview download available on a date soon after. Code named Threshold, the new operating system is expected to finally fix our gripes with Windows.

Microsoft already begun inviting reporters to an event concerning “what’s next for Windows.” ... It doesn’t take Nostradamus to connect the dots as Microsoft won’t confirm its agenda, but all conventional wisdom points to some type of preview of Windows 9. Some build of Windows 9 has been provided to hardware partners like build 9834 and build 9821 and build 9841...details have steadily leaked over the past few weeks.

Microsoft has sent out invitations for an event on 30 September where it is expected to announce the Windows 9 beta as a 'technical preview' and follow-up to Windows 8.
It shouldn't come as a surprise that Windows 9 will be supporting 4K out of the box. However, according to a Russian website, Microsoft's forthcoming operating system will also be able to power 8K monitors (when they become mainstream, that is).

Microsoft continues work on Windows 9, and it appears that some new testing builds have recently been compiled and sent to partners for testing purposes.

The recently leaked images and videos show build 9834 in action.and this version has been sent to a number of Microsoft partners for testing purposes, a couple of which who leaked out some images and clips from the operating system in development.
